Tether Management Systems (MAVERICK)

Seadrift was selected by the world's largest operator of ROV systems to design and manufacture a Tether Management System (TMS) for ultra deep water operations in the West Africa Region. The design brief was to keep the TMS simple to operate, ultra reliable and easy to maintain in the field. Also the client needed the ability to use differing tether lengths and diameters for different locations, operations and ROV's within their fleet and work scope.

With this thought in mind the system has a unique constant tension self aligning spooling system coupled with aluminium "Lebus" grooved drum split sleeves. This enables the use of any diameter tether with the changing of the grooved sleeves rather than complete drum change. The TMS also incorporates a high level power sheave linked to a flexible tether exit tube, this ensures the tether has direct exit from the power sheave through the docking cone without the need for additional rollers or guides, another major benefit of the high level power sheave is space around the lower TMS components for ease of maintenance.
